Ever wonder what can be determined about your tennis strokes from examining the condition of your tennis string breakage? Are you a power hitter hitting flat (equal notching on mains and crosses, and strings are breaking in the middle of the sweet spot) or are you a super spin machine (your mains are severely notched due to the sawing movement across the crosses, while the crosses look new, and the main strings that broke were 3 or 4 strings over to the side of the sweet spot)? Or are your crosses breaking (likely a hybrid setup with stiff mains cutting through the softer crosses)? Or are the mains breaking at the top of the racquet (likely a result of trying to flick a shot while reaching forward with your racquet)?
Two excellent videos helping you understand tennis string breakage and what can be learned by examining their condition.
